Class Action #20 is now available.

This issue includes news and updates on a number of continuing stories: the striking down on the national security certificate on alleged terrorist Hassan Almrei; polygamy in Bountiful, BC; the negligence suit brought against the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, the RCMP, and a search-and-rescue team following the death of an out-of-bounds skier; and the formation of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to delve into the tragic experiences of students at Aboriginal residential schools.

The issue also contains updates on Quebec's language laws and the status of same-sex marriage in the United States (and the problems around same-sex divorce), a BLM on an Ontario case that applies the Supreme Court of Canada's test regarding the admission of evidence when an accused's Charter rights have been violated, and some new online resources.

Finally, the issue includes an article and a BLM on prorogation, which, for the second time in a year, has been used by Prime Minister Stephen Harper to shut down Parliament, kill pending bills, and disband committees. The article and the BLM give you and your students background on prorogation and suggest ways of studying and assessing the use of this parliamentary procedure.

Check out the complete issue.
