The Citizenship in Action Assignment asks students to write a report on the accomplishments of an individual or organization of their choosing, and then to role-play their chosen individual or organization for their classmates. The assignment provides an extensive list of possible topics, including background and stories about Paul Rusesabagina (of Hotel Rwanda fame), Viola Desmond, Raoul Wallenberg, Marguerite d'Youville, and Jackie Robinson. The assignment also includes an assessment rubric.
The Information and Debate Assignment asks students to research and debate an assigned topic with a partner. The assignment includes an extensive list of possible debate topics, and an assessment rubric.
